With the summer almost over and the school year rapidly approaching, high school basketball teams are finishing up team camps and preparing for another season ahead. While most players are returning to their previous teams, others are stepping on to a new court with new coaches, systems, and teammates.
Amory Smith (2020 PG 6-1 170) is one of those players. Last year he attended and played basketball for Bayside High School averaging 15 points per game. This year he will be suiting up with Princess Anne High. He recently spoke with recruit757 on his excitement about joining the Cavaliers. He is also a player who should have a major impact this year in the 757.
Kevin Kelley: How excited are you to play with Princess Anne this upcoming season?Amory Smith: I’m ecstatic about this upcoming season at Princess Anne, I really feel like we have a great chance to make a big run this year.
Kevin Kelley: What kind of player will PA be getting in you?
Amory Smith: PA will be getting a hard working combo guard that can shoot the ball at will and put it on the floor too, whether I’m finishing at the cup or finding my teammates for open scoring opportunities.
Kevin Kelley: How much of an impact will you have on the team’s success?
Amory Smith: I will have a huge impact on this years team success due to the fact that Coach Coffer is putting the ball in my hands and expecting me to make plays.
Kevin Kelley: How well do you mesh with the guys?
Amory Smith: We mesh well together, we are constantly learning each other throughout each practice and we all are working towards the same goal.
Kevin Kelley: What can we expect out of the new backcourt with Kanye Clary and yourself?
Amory Smith: You can expect a fast, uptempo style of play in which we will push the ball and create open shots for each other.
Kevin Kelley: What can we expect out of PA Boys Basketball overall?
Amory Smith: We’re just trying to build off of last season.
