Impressive performance by Jones leads Comets

When it comes to Jamestown and Granby, there could not be a two teams more different. Granby uses their athleticism, while Jamestown is methodical, and break their opponents down. On paper, this game seemed as if it would be a nail bitter, but that would not end up the case.
Granby came out in the first quarter with a heavy dose of Giovanni Jones, and it was making Jamestown sick as they had no answer.
The Wang twins were unable to find the basket in this period, maybe the next, but until then, Diamante Brown and Jason Schmidt was the only bright spot for this team early, as this gave the Eagles an opportunity to stay in the game with not much time left in the first quarter.
Granby would close out the first quarter strong leading 23-14. Jamestown began to play more of their game in the second period, slowing the pace down and being able to move the ball fluently getting Brown good looks at the basket, committing fewer turnovers which slowed down the fast pace Comets offense.
However, Granby sophomore guard Antwon Epps Jr began to find his shot. It was a low scoring quarter as Jamestown would outscore Granby 11-10 with a score going into halftime leading by eight.
Granby would come into the second half and play dominate, grabbing almost every rebound and the trio of Giovanni Jones, Antwon Epps Jr, and Tony Epps Jr, just seemed to be too much for the Eagles, as the Comets’ athleticism proved to be more than the Eagles could handle.
The great guards for Jamestown the Wang Twins never really seemed to get going, which some of the reasons could be the pressure they were having put on them by Granby’s offense. Comets would take a definite lead heading into the last period, 56-37.
Jamestown head coach Donovan Bridgeforth would not let his team give up on themselves in this last period as some began to raise eyebrows as his team began putting up and making a multitude of three-pointers. Even with Jamestown finds their shot late in this game, it still seemed as if they could not stop the Comets from scoring.
Granby would eventually put this game out of reach, at the 2:10 mark in the 4th they would sit their starters with a lead of 74-48.
Granby would have three players reach double figures with Giovanni Jones leading the way with 25pts and 11reb. Antwon Epps Jr would add 15 points, five rebounds and four assists. Tony Epps Jr, would compliment his teammates with 12 pts as the Comets secured a 77-56 win.
