It’s a great gift for Christmas. Bishop Sullivan lineman Archie Callahan has made his college commitment to the University of Maine.
His announcement came via Twitter last weekend:
“I would like to thank Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior for giving me the ability to play football. Second, I would like to thank my parents and the coaches at BSCHS for helping me through this process. Lastly, I would like to thank all of the coaches who have recruited me and offered me. I would like to announce that I will be continuing my academic and football career for the next four to five years at the University of Maine. #GoBlackBears”
The University of Maine competes in the CAA against some familiar names. The southern teams in the conference include JMU, William and Mary, Richmond, Elon, Towson and Delaware.
Callahan held offers from Albany, Maine, Rhode Island, and UVA-Wise, Callahan holds offers from Kentucky Christian and Chowan. Rhode Island and Albany are also in the CAA.
As a part of Bishop Sullivan’s offensive line, Callahan contributed to the Crusaders 7-3 season that finished with a narrow loss to nationally ranked IMG Academy in November. The offensive line at Bishop Sullivan opened holes for running back Khalan Laborn to rush for 1485 yards on 165 carries and 19 rushing touchdowns.
Maine finished in the middle of the pack in the CAA football standings with a 5-3 conference record and a 6-5 record overall.
