De’Vonte Yates and the Bethel Bruins endured a very difficult season this year. They capped off a tumultuous year by winning their last two football contests against Denbigh and heritage, but it was five-game losing streak that proved to be their demise.
Meanwhile, Yates continues to pull in collegiate offers at a high rate making it so his options will be plentiful come time to make a decision on his future. The Bethel product picked up his 11th offer last week from North Carolina Wesleyan and followed it up with his 12th offer on Tuesday night from Ferrum College.
“Ferrum is a great school and they have good academics,” Yates told recruit757. “I’m just blessed for the opportunities God is providing me.”
The presence of Ferrum College has been adequate over the last four years in Hampton Roads with the signings of: Lawrence Baranski (Ocean Lakes), Zaikee Stelly (Tallwood), Kendall Bell (Woodside), Aaron Branch (Phoebus), Chase Deaton (Bethel), Jevon Parkin (Salem), Rudolph Cruz (Green Run), Devin Hansen (First Colonial), Marquis Rhodes (Menchville), Tyshiem Parker (Woodside) and Brandon Ward (Phoebus).
Thus far, Yates also holds offers from: Greensboro College, Brevard College, CNU, Glenville State, Arkansas Baptist, Birmingham Prep, Thiel College, Culver-Stockton, Clarke University and Bluefield College. The Bethel product is in no rush to condense his offer list with the Peninsula versus Southside All-Star Classic being played this coming weekend.
“I’m going to wait it out,” Yates stated. “I feel as though January will be a big month for me especially with me playing in an All-Star game. It will get me more looks.”
The big month of January he speaks of will consist of a lot of visits for the programs that have offered Yates thus far. Yates has already visited Bluefield, CNU, North Carolina Wesleyan and Ferrum. Bluefield was the most recent program Yates has visited which came back on December 6.
