Warwick stepped up in a big way last fall. Some of their success can be attributed to freshman running back Bryce Buchanan (2023 RB 5-6 155).
Buchanan was the offensive player of the year for the Raiders. Bryce had 112 carries for 738 rushing yards with 8 touchdowns for an average of 6.5 yards per carry. Warwick reached the playoffs for the second year in a row after a six year postseason drought.
Last week, Buchanan hit the recruit757 Spotlight Exposure camp for a checkup on his offseason training.
“It was very intense. (It involved) a lot of speed, agility and footwork, but I pushed through it,” Buchanan said. “I saw new talent, new things… I’m on the other side of the water and it’s great to see other athletes.”
“If you don’t want it, there’s no reason to be out there. If you want it, you’re going to put the work in. You’re going to go to school, you’re going to do your homework, you’re going to do all that stuff to get where you want to be,” Bryce stated.
He holds a 3.5 GPA and he’s in great shape academically to get recruited for college ball. He’s a game changing tailback, and we all know there’s room for a player of his caliber at the next level.
Michael Vick is perhaps the most famous alum of Warwick High School, and that’s a factor not lost on Bryce.
“Warwick is a great school to go to. Mike Vick went there and his brother (Marcus). Mike’s a quarterback and I’m a running back; we’re out there for different reasons,” Buchanan explained.
