COVID-19 continues to play a role in college football recruiting.
On Saturday night, Catholic High School QB Colt Minson announced that he would reclass and enroll at Charlotte for the 2020-21 academic year. This decision also puts Colt on the 49ers roster immediately.

Colt will head to Charlotte on Tuesday to enroll and get started with the football program.
The 49ers have had to adjust their schedule with other conferences moving games around to accommodate their plan for football in a COVID environment. Charlotte was scheduled to play Tennessee in their season opener, but the SEC announced a change for all conference members this week. The SEC will only play in conference this fall.
Because of the shift, Charlotte is set to play their opener against Duke on Thursday, September 17. That game is scheduled to run on ESPN.
Minson’s offer list included William and Mary, Monmouth, VMI, Robert Morris, Merrimack and Sanford.
Colt’s leadership skills and grittiness will certainly translate well to the college level. If all goes well for Colt, he could rise quickly up the depth chart for the 49ers.
