Wake Forest nabs a commitment from Drelyn Ford

Franklin WR/TE Drelyn Ford is a big target. At 6-5 and 205 pounds, Ford sees action in a lot of positions, including wide receiver, tight end and defensive end. He was our #12 player in the recruit757 Fab 30 of the Class of 2019.
Old Dominion tracked him down in Western Tidewater and nabbed a commitment from him in the summer.
Now, after a late September visit to Wake Forest, Ford has reconsidered his commitment and he’s given his verbal to the Demon Deacons.
On October 2, he made it official.
“I’m very proud to be a Deac,” Ford told recruit757. “I couldn’t have done this without my family, teammates, coaches and fans.”
Wake Forest assistant coaches Nick Tabacca and Wayne Lineburg recruited Drelyn. The coaches visited Franklin High School and had Drelyn come to the Deacons’ game against Notre Dame. He loved the visit and didn’t take long to make a decision.
“They have been following me since mid-summer,” Ford said. “It was a hard decision, but I had to do what I thought is best for me and my family. I love the atmosphere (at Wake). The campus is beautiful and everyone there is nice and shows love.”
According to Ford, the Deacons coaching staff has plans for him to make big contributions in their offense.
“They told me I can shine in their system because of the way they use their tight ends. They’ll have me play tight end, but more of a pass catching tight end.”
