Nansemond-Suffolk Academy running back George Pettaway (2022 RB 5-10 170) continues to reel in big offers as his junior year approaches.
On Tuesday, Pettaway added offers from Buffalo and the University of Florida.
In a Wednesday morning conversation, Pettaway couldn’t hide his enthusiasm and he also made it clear that he’s a long way away from making a decision.
“(The conversation with) Florida was unreal. I got to talk to both (Assistant Player Personnel Director) Jamar Chaney and (Running Backs Coach) Greg Knox. They are both super excited. They said my film really jumped out and said I would sell a lot of tickets one day. They want it to be at Gatorland. As soon as things open up, they want me to come down to campus meet all the coaches. They want me to get a feel of what Florida is about,” said Pettaway. “The conversation was Buffalo was brief. They told me to stay in contact every few weeks. Coach Fuchs emphasized how they use their running backs, and said i would be a great back.”
Pettaway got in touch after a morning workout and made it clear that he’s intently keeping his competitive edge in the off-season. Offers roll in and he continues to work hard.
“I’m taking my time (with recruiting) for sure. I’m in no rush and on no timeline. I would like things to open back up, but until then it’s grind. I (want to) get better seven days out of the week. As far as colleges, I’m trying to build relationships with the ones that want to build a relationship with me,” he said.
“It doesn’t look like we are having camps, so the 2020 season will be a huge. Working hard, eating right and getting sleep is my main priority.”
We may or may not have camps this summer. We don’t know yet. There’s one thing for sure and that’s either way, George Pettaway will be ready for the season.
Pettaway now holds 16 offers including Virginia, Virginia Tech, Old Dominion, Florida, Buffalo, Texas A&M, Penn State, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Pitt, Maryland, Michigan State, Nebraska, Liberty, East Carolina and Hampton.
