If the Ohio Bobcats have their way, Lafayette running back Jahlil Green could be wearing green in 2014. The Bay Rivers District running back who piled up over 1500 yards in 2012 is prepping for a big senior season by having a big camp season. He’s fresh off of a JMU offer, and now he’s added an Ohio offer to his growing list.
The latest offer gives him six to consider now. VMI, Marshall, James Madison, Bucknell, William and Mary, and Ohio have all extended offers. Ohio is in the MAC, and they’re coming off of a 9-4 season that was capped by a 45-14 trouncing of Louisiana-Monroe in the Independence Bowl. Green is loading up with Division I offers, and that bodes well for the attention that’s being given to the programs of the Bay Rivers District this year.
Of course, the Bay Rivers is all but disbanded. The VHSL’s reclassification has teams in small conferences starting this fall, but for the most part, all regional teams are keeping their old in-district schedules in order to make it easier to create a familiar slate of games.
Recruiting is getting hotter and hotter for the talent of the former Bay Rivers. Not only is Green getting offers, but so is Bruton’s Kapri Doucet, Warhill’s Devonte Dedmon, and Poquoson’s Grayson Boyce. Don’t be surprised to see this pace keep up all summer.
