Lake Taylor gets a back-to-back Player of the Week Award win!
Earlier this season, running back Malik Newton won the Player of the Week award twice for brilliant performances as he ate up a ton of yardage and scored over and over.
Last week, Lake Taylor WR/DB Javon Harvey won the Player of the Week award for his performance where he had two interceptions, a 70-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, plus an 83-yard touchdown on a screen pass from Jeff Foster in his team’s 63-21 win over Smithfield.
This week, Ikeem Wright won with a performance where he had 5 sacks, 9 solo tackles, 5 assisted tackles and f5 QB hurries in his team’s 42-0 playoff shutout of King’s Fork.
It was a close vote. Ikeem won by 20 votes as Oscar Smith quarterback Cam’Ron Kelly finished a close second.
We will visit Lake Taylor High School later this week to present the Buffalo Wild Wings Player of the Week award.
There’s an incentive for the player of the week winners to keep up with their academics, because recruit757, in conjunction with the non-profit P.R.E.P.S. Foundation, will award the Player of the Year award at the end of the post-season to the one player of the week winner that exemplifies the best of the region in football and academics.
We’re constantly on the lookout for top performances each week. With teams being eliminated due to the playoffs, we’ll have no more than five local teams left providing nominees for the Buffalo Wild Wings Player of the Week award.
Thanks to Buffalo Wild Wings for their years of support of high school athletics in the 757. The Buffalo Wild Wings Player of the Week award has become a staple of our regular season and postseason recognition of top players.
