In our last interview, it seemed pretty obvious that Charles Dixon (2019 LB 6-0 230) liked Morgan State.
He visited Morgan State a little less than two weeks ago. He picked up an offer from the Bears.
On a return visit to Baltimore on Friday, he committed to Morgan State.
“I really like the coaching staff. I like the team values that they reinforce, and my parents like everything the coaches say about academics and football,” said Dixon via Twitter message after making his verbal commitment. “I just feel that Morgan State is the best fit for me.”
Indian River Head Coach Glenwood Ferebee is one of Dixon’s biggest fans and he makes no bones about it. Unprompted, Coach Ferebee gave Dixon a huge compliment when his offer from Morgan State was announced earlier this month.
“(Charles is) a kid that every coach would love to have in his program. He does everything you ask of him,” Ferebee exclaimed on his own Facebook wall.
In a Friday afternoon conversation with the coach, he hammered that point home.
“Morgan State loves his size and his aggressive playing style. (Any college coach would love) that he’s great academically. He’s an honors student with a 3.2 GPA and a 1060 SAT score,” said Ferebee.
Dixon had been fielding interest from other schools, including William and Mary, Liberty and Richmond. Now he’s shutting it down.
Now Charles Dixon’s senior season lies ahead, and he can focus on that. He’s not moving far away for college. His family has ties to Maryland. It’s a win-win for Charles Dixon and Morgan State. For the Bears, it’s their first commitment from the 757 for the 2019 recruiting class. Earlier in the week, it was announced that First Colonial WR/DB Dauvieh Bradshaw had committed to Morgan State as a part of their 2018 recruiting class.
