Norfolk Academy athlete Jacob Saffold (2020 ATH 5-9 170) has had a busy spring.
He’s coming back from injury and he used strong showings at the recruit757/Sparta Showcase and the Nike Opening Regional to prove that he’s 100%.
At the Nike event, Saffold posted the fastest forty time, running a 4.35 laser timed forty-yard-dash.
That was enough to get Mike London and William and Mary off the fence.
Late Friday, the Tribe became the first school to offer a scholarship to Jacob.
“Excited to have received a scholarship offer to play football at William and Mary!,” said Saffold in a Saturday morning Twitter post.

Jacob confirmed the offer in a conversation via Twitter DM.
Interest from other schools has been high, including a number of Ivy League schools and Wake Forest. In an interview at the Nike Opening Regional, Saffold confirmed that he will taking college visits over the Summer, and he’ll camp for schools if necessary in order to prove himself.
In that interview, Saffold announced his goals for his senior season and a drive to earn the respect of college coaches that would most certainly earn him scholarship offers.
“Schools have said they’re looking for 1500 to 2000 yards and 20 to 25 touchdowns this year, which I think is easily doable because the coaches have really based the offense around me. They really want to make sure I’m back at full speed,” Saffold said. “I’m really looking to be a leader on the team and help our team out. Three years in a row, we’ve been conference champions and I want to make it four times in a row.”
