Heading into the regular season, we recognize the top 30 senior prospects in and around the region of Hampton Roads. Continuing our countdown at number 10 is none other than senior prospect Norcom starting wide receiver Karon Prunty.

It was all fun and games out of the gate when Norcom dropped its first three games of the season to Hopewell, Lafayette, and Booker T. Washington last year wasn’t it? Fullness is when you flip the script; knock off the Mighty Bookers in the Region 3A quarter-finals, and then Hopewell on the road in the Region 3A semi-finals. I know exactly what it feels like, because I put a camera in Larry Archie’s face as soon as the last second ticked off the clock at Merner Field where the Greyhounds knocked off the Blue Devils.
It was timeless.
But that’s Norcom for you. The Greyhounds look like they’re down and out and then they’re right back in it. When you think of some of the changes that come to mind during the time Norcom started to turn things around you have to think of starting wide receiver Karon Prunty. It’s true what they say, speed kills. And then there’s Karon Prunty. His straight line speed is absolutely incredible and when you think about it, there just aren’t many defensive backs that can hold their composure when trying to jam him at the line.
On top of that, someone had a bright idea last season to move him to defensive back giving him the entire off-season to mature and develop before the start of the regular season this year. His dedication toward perfecting his craft has gotten the attention multiple programs and allowed him to pick up offers from: Charlotte, Delaware State, Elon, Tennessee, Liberty, Towson, William and Mary, Marshall, Richmond, Norfolk State, and Temple. In addition, Prunty has also been received interest from East Carolina, Old Dominion, and Appalachian State.
