We’ve watched Lamareon James since his freshman season.
As a sophomore at Norfolk Christian, he was an electric play maker. With the ball in his hands, he could change a game. After a transfer to Indian River, James’ presence grew further, which led to more offers and an eventual commitment to the University of North Carolina.
The 2019 season is upon us, and we recognize the top 30 senior prospects in and around the 757. We’re closing in on number one, and number two for the senior class is Indian River multi-purpose athlete Lamareon James.

Indian River’s 2019 team is well stacked. That being said, it’s easy to see that Lamareon James is in a position to be the primary play maker for the Braves.
There’s a new quarterback leading the offense, and a new head coach in Marcus Ferebee, who takes over for his brother. While Marcus was on the staff last year, James is actually on the field and potentially leading the Braves on both sides of the ball as Indian River looks to make another deep playoff run this year.
As for his college decision, James’ visits to Chapel Hill and his developing relationship with defensive backs coach Dre Bly made it easy for him to fall in love with the Tar Heels.
We tabbed him as a Player To Watch in our late August segment with WAVY-TV 10 and Friday Night Flights. As we said there, James gets it done on all sides of the ball as a wide receiver, running back, defensive back and return man.
Enjoy watching him on Friday nights this fall. By this time next year, we’ll likely see him paired with former Hampton Crabber Dazz Newsome as a two-headed monster at North Carolina.
