Clemson offers Lake Taylor’s top tailback, Malik Newton

Things just got serious for Malik Newton.
Not that the first 11 college scholarship offers he received weren’t significant, but when the reigning national champions extend a scholarship offer, it’s safe to say you’re a serious college football prospect.
Malik Newton (2021 RB/LB 6-0 219) has a hefty offer list.
Clemson became the latest to offer Newton when the Lake Taylor tailback visited the campus on Thursday.

The Clemson offer is Newton’s 12th and is added to offers from Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Penn State, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Pitt, UVA, Temple and South Carolina.
It’s not clear yet if Clemson is recruiting him to be a running back or a linebacker, but Newton is certainly most punishing at either position. He had a great showing for us in March at the recruit757/Sparta Science Showcase at Redskins Park, and we look forward to him starring in the second game of our recruit757 Kickoff Classic that will be played to open the 2019 football season on August 31 at Darling Stadium in Hampton.
In that game, Lake Taylor will face Phoebus, and that will be a rematch of the mid-season meeting between the two teams in 2018 where Lake Taylor practically closed out the game with a two-minute drill to go up by four point (21-17) with too little time on the clock for Phoebus to mount a comeback. Lake Taylor advanced all the way to the VHSL Class 4 State Championship game while Phoebus advanced to the Class 3 State Championship game last December. Both teams saw their championship hopes dashed on the field at Liberty University.
August 31 is when both teams start their road to the state championship all over again.
