Maury Football grabbed a lot of attention in 2018.
The good news for Maury fans is that the hot streak is not likely to end. A few key seniors are graduating, most notably quarterback Alvonte Lawton and defensive back Sheridan Jones.
Returning stars include wide receiver Keandre Lambert, who just narrowed his college list to 11, and running back C.J. Beasley (2020 RB 5-9 170).
Beasley had a sizzling season as the Commomdores went 12-2 and finished one game short of the state championship. In 2018, Beasley rushed for 1,778 yards on 147 carries with 19 touchdowns. He also had 18 catches for 424 yards and four touchdowns, plus he had kick and punt returns for 207 yards on 7 attempts for an average of 29.6 yards per touch.
That’s a total of 2,409 all-purpose yards and 23 touchdowns in his junior season.
It’s no wonder that Virginia Tech took notice and extended an offer on Friday.
Beasley shared the news via Twitter.
“I would like to thank God, My mom & Dad, Coach Mccain, Coach Rio, the entire Maury Football staff, and my TEAMMATES, especially my O-line!!! It’s truly a blessing to receive my fourth offer from Virginia Tech,” Beasley tweeted.

Beasley picked up his first offer in September when Morgan State jumped on board. Needless to say, the stakes just got higher and Beasley couldn’t be happier.
Keandre Lambert included Virginia Tech in his Top 11. A paired commitment with Lambert and Beasley could make Virginia Tech fans really happy.
