The Maury Commodores are in the middle of prep for the start of the football season. The team took a break from that on Friday to celebrate the college commitment of rising senior Dashaun Peele (2020 WR/DB 5-10 170).
“There’s no one more deserving than (Dashaun). He does all the right things. He’s the type of kid that every coach would love to have as a student-athlete,” said the coach. “As far as his effort, and his direction, and what he wants in life, he knows what he wants to do and has a plan in life.”
Peele took the stage with his parents and his younger brother. There were three hats on the table: Navy, Villanova and Howard.
When it came time for the announcement, his little brother put on the Howard hat before Dashawn grabbed the Navy ball cap, put it on and unzipped his jacket to reveal a Navy Football t-shirt. His friends and teammates who were in attendance went wild.
“I’ve been thinking about it for a while now, ever since I went to visit. I feel like it’s the best place for me, especially for after college, moving on with life and family,” Peele said. “I’ll be playing slot back. They run a triple-option. I like it. They do pass the ball a lot.”
Peele hesitated to speak too much about prep for the season. Bethel is their opener at the recruit757 Kickoff Classic on August 31 at Darling Stadium in Hampton.
“We’re just going to take (the season) one game at a time. We’re waiting for Bethel right now. Then we’ll take it week by week,” Peele explained.
His offer list was in double digits and also included offers from William and Mary, VMI and Liberty.
