Ocean Lakes defensive end Naquan Brown (2021 DE 6-4 205) and offensive tackle Tyler Stephens (2020 OT 6-4 280) picked up their first college scholarship offers in the last few weeks, and now they’re seeing more offers come in.
Stephens picked up an offer from Kent State at the end of January and he added an offer from Old Dominion over the weekend.
Sophomore defensive end Naquan Brown picked up an offer from Old Dominion on Monday and added an offer from Pitt on Tuesday. That puts Brown at three offers since he landed his first offer from Virginia Tech last week.
Ocean Lakes head coach Joe Jones shared the news and explained the interest that Old Dominion has in both linemen.
“Tyler has been on their radar for a couple of years. His size, grades and versatility for playing any position on the offensive line are what makes him such a valuable prospect,” Jones said. “As for Naquan Brown, Old Dominion sees in him the same things that Virginia Tech and several other schools see. He’s an athletic and versatile defensive player who can be a defensive end or an outside linebacker.”
Like most high school programs, the Dolphins are losing a handful of key seniors to graduation, so that’s time for the guys behind those seniors to step up. College visits are on the docket and off-season weight training is already in full effect.
“Tyler, Naquan and Myles Alston will all be at East Carolina this Saturday. Devon Allen (2020 CB 5-11 165) is getting some looks too, but no offers yet. I believe they’ll be coming soon,” Jones explained.
Ocean Lakes Football is in good hands. They have their anchors and leadership in the trenches. The rest of the pieces will fall into place as the spring unfolds.
