Earlier in the week, Class of 2018 athlete Dauvieh Bradshaw of First Colonial confirmed a commitment to Morgan State.
On Friday, Indian River linebacker Charles Dixon (2019 LB 6-0 230) committed to the Bears.
By Friday night, Morgan State had picked up yet another commitment in Oscar Smith WR/DB T.J. Tucker (2019 WR/DB 6-0 190).
Oscar Smith Head Coach Scott Johnson confirmed it over the weekend.
“It’s a good fit for T.J. and he’s very excited,” said Johnson. “They like his competitive style of play. He’s a real student of the game. He watches a lot of film and has a great instinct for the ball.”
Coach Johnson also noted that Tucker will play on the defensive side of the ball for the Bears.
Obviously, a smart athlete from a winning program has an edge in the recruitment process. The Oscar Smith Tigers have been to the Class 6 State Championship game every year since Tucker’s freshman season. He’s in a winning culture there at Smith.
Now T.J. can focus on his senior season and a fourth straight State Championship bid for the Tigers. On Saturday, Oscar Smith had a solid run at the John Marshall 7-on-7 tournament where they did well in pool play and made a run through the tournament before they fell in the championship game by a score of 28-21.
Tucker is Oscar Smith’s second college commitment in their rising senior class. Quarterback/defensive back Cam’Ron Kelly committed to Virginia Tech earlier in June.
