The COVID-19 shutdown is going to have winners and losers.
This fall, we’ll see the results on the football field. There are athletes who are using every minute they can to train, eat right and get better. Then there are others who are using this time as a break, to coast.
Nate Boerboom (2021 WR/TE 6-4 230) is determined to be one of those athletes who will show that he worked hard this spring.
“I’ve been working out this whole quarantine. Everday at least once (a day). My current weight is 230,” Boerboom said. “I’ve sent my highlights out to (all the college coaches) again. I have a 3.0 GPA and a 22 ACT score. (My team) will be ready (for the fall) and I’m going to do whatever it takes to win.”
That’s the attitude that college coaches love. Nate is a coach’s kid, which is kind of like being a Preacher’s kid. The kid typically either follows the straight and narrow, or he rebels. Coach’s kids usually either work their tails off or they take everything for granted. The latter attitude will catch up to an athlete sooner or later.
Boerboom has added offers from Marshall, UConn, JMU, Coastal Carolina, and Toledo in the last couple of weeks.
He’s now closing in on 20 college scholarship offers. In addition to the five most recent offers, Nate holds Virginia Tech, ODU, ECU, Buffalo, William and Mary, Liberty, Kansas State, Pitt, Charlotte, UCF, Temple, Appalachian State and Norfolk State.
