The long train of offers and interest for George Pettaway (2022 RB 5-11 170) continues to add boxcars.
The University of North Carolina is now in play for Pettaway and Nansemond-Suffolk Academy head football coach Mike Biehl shared the news with recruit757.
“George was offered by Coach Bly and Coach Gillespie from UNC,” Biehl reported Wednesday. “They met as a staff this morning to review prospective running back film and based on what they saw, the staff felt that George has the type of talent and ability to help their program be successful.”
Pettaway hasn’t visited UNC yet and of course his visits have been limited since the onset of the shutdown related to COVID-19.
George shared his enthusiasm about the offer with us.
“It’s exciting to get an offer from UNC. I haven’t had the chance to visit yet, but I look forward to it. There are a lot of schools I’m going to want to visit when I’m finally able to,” he said.
The rising junior tailback is now at 18 college scholarship offers, including five ACC schools with UNC being the fifth. Nick Saban and the University of Alabama also offered last week.
Pettaway’s offer list includes: Virginia, Virginia Tech, Old Dominion, Alabama, UNC, Florida, Buffalo, Texas A&M, Penn State, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Pitt, Maryland, Michigan State, Nebraska, Liberty, East Carolina and Hampton.
