Phoebus DB Corey Wilson secures ODU offer, gears up for official visits

The Phantoms were cutthroat on the defensive side of the ball this past season. Phoebus allowed only seven points per contest last year possessing one of the better defensive programs in all
of Class 3. They were able to post five shutouts and only four programs were able to reach double-digit point status against the Phantoms.
Elevating his game this past season was three-star defensive back Corey Wilson (2020 DB 6-1 190). The Phoebus product has been the focal point of multiple collegiate programs since the start of last season, but he was only able to secure just one offer over said time period which came just a week before Thanksgiving.
Looking to add to their 2020 recruiting class, Ricky Rahne and Old Dominion decided it was time to get into the mix by providing Wilson with another collegiate offer.
“I got in contact with Old Dominion coaches on Twitter and we started messaging back and forth for a few days,” Wilson told recruit757. “Coach Rebstock gave me a call a couple of days later informing me that he loved my film and wanted me to be a Monarch.”
Monarchs’ head coach Ricky Rahne is entering his first season with Old Dominion after spending the last six years at Penn State. For the last two years he served as the offensive coordinator under James Franklin. Rahne is just the second head coach in the history of ODU football with Bobby Wilder serving from 2007 to 2019.
Aside from Old Dominion, Wilson also holds offers from Army, Delaware, UTSA, and the Naval Academy. Should Wilson commit to Old Dominion, he’ll be linked back up former Phoebus product Damion Charity who committed to ODU just two years ago. Currently, Wilson is in the process of deciding where he wants to take his official visits and when that will occur.
“No visits at the moment, but I plan on taking all five official visits. “I will definitely be up to visit ODU.”
