It only took a season for Deondre Davis to establish himself.
Davis (2019 DE 6-2 235) transferred from Allen, Texas and played his senior season at Oscar Smith High School. In that time, he gathered plenty of college interest while playing on an impressive Tigers defensive line.
On Friday, Davis announced his college decision via Twitter.
“I would like to say I’m blessed to be in this position I am today. I would like to thank my Grandma for her endless support in everything I’ve done in life and that I’m forever grateful. I would like to thank the rest of my family, friends, coaches, and the Oscar Smith community for the love y’all have shown me since I got here. With that being said, i am verbally committed to Virginia State University.”
Deondre is a football legacy. His grandfather, Robert “Ton” Davis was a star running back for Woodrow Wilson in the early 1970s. Robert led the Presidents with a record setting season in 1971 that included a state championship game loss to T.C. Williams High School that would become the basis for the movie “Remember the Titans”.
The Davis family’s football legacy lives on as Deondre Davis heads to Virginia State to continue his football career.
