Our number 16 selection has become a perfect target for posting big yardage for the Maury offense.
Heading into the regular season, we recognize the top 30 senior prospects in and around the region of Hampton Roads. Continuing our countdown at number 16 is Maury High School wide receiver Dashaun Peele.

With Keandre Lambert as one of the top targets in the passing game, you might assume that the pressure is off of senior wide out Dashaun Peele. The Commodores have a proven tailback in Virginia Tech bound C.J. Beasley. They have a shutdown defense. They even have a nerves of steel kicker in Luca Weber. If they’ve found a replacement for last year’s quarterback Alvonte Lawton, Maury may well punch their ticket to the VHSL Class 5 State Semifinal again.
In 2018, Peele posted 1,089 yards on 54 catches with 11 TDs. Lambert draws double teams and Peele can make opposing defenses pay for it.
At the beginning of the month, Peele decided to end his recruitment. Teammates, coaches and family gathered in the auditorium at Maury to see Peele pick between Navy, Howard and Villanova.
For his college decision, Peele decided to play the long game and commit to Navy.
“I’ve been thinking about it for a while now, ever since I went to visit. I feel like it’s the best place for me, especially for after college, moving on with life and family,” Peele said. “I’ll be playing slot back. They run a triple-option. I like it. They do pass the ball a lot.”
He’ll certainly be a speedy weapon for the Middies. First, there’s a senior season to play out.
The Commodores are prepping now for their opener in the recruit757 Kickoff Classic. Maury plays Bethel at Noon and Lake Taylor plays Phoebus at 4 PM, Saturday, August 31 at Darling Stadium in Hampton.
