We’ve watched Zach Bevins grow into being a high school player from youth football in Virginia Beach to the varsity at Ocean Lakes. Now at Bishop Sullivan Catholic, we’re watching him grow into being a Division I college prospect.
Heading into the regular season, we recognize the top 30 senior prospects being groomed in the 757. Leading off our countdown is Bishop Sullivan offensive lineman Zach Bevins.
#30 Zach Bevins (SR OT 6-3 280) – Bishop Sullivan Catholic
Zach Bevins is an anchor on the offensive line at Bishop Sullivan. The Crusaders were thrust onto the national stage last year as coach Chris Scott transitioned the football program into a new era. Offensive and defensive line may have been two of the thinnest units for Bishop Sullivan, but Bevins certainly did his part in beefing up the line and taking extra reps. Teammates Brandon and Breyon Gaddy, now headed to the University of Maryland, were two of the best known players graduating and leaving holes on the line. Reinforcements are coming in the way of Henrico transfer Akeem Smith, Hickory transfer Tommy Sevcik, and Adarious Jones of Essex. There are also some studs returning from last year that will share the load with Bevins.
Zach landed multiple college scholarship offers this offseason, including Florida Atlantic, Georgetown, Elon, Bucknell, UVA-Wise and Rhode Island. A visit to Elon convinced him that was the place to be.
“I’ve developed some great relationships with the offensive line coach and my recruiting coordinator (at Elon). The campus is impeccable and I believe what Coach Cignetti is creating down there will be special,” Bevins told us just a few weeks ago.
Zach earned the #30 spot in our countdown of the top seniors in the region. We expect to see his stock grow further this fall. The Elon Phoenix will be thrilled with the lineman they’ve landed.
