Juwan Callines has been hard to ignore for several years now. He’s been the biggest kid on the playground his entire life, and the football field is no different. You can spot him easily. At 6-6 and roughly 350 pounds, he often stands a head taller in the huddle.
Heading into the regular season, we recognize the top 30 senior prospects in the 757. #15 in our countdown is I.C. Norcom big man Juwan Callines.

As a rising sophomore, Callines demanded attention at summer football camps. He made himself known, and he wasn’t even the most skilled lineman in any group. He was simply tough to beat because of his sheer size.
Now, Juwan has learned to use what he has. He’s been a member of the repeat Group 4A State Champion I.C. Norcom Greyhound boys basketball team. He’s tough in the paint. He’s also tough in the trenches. The basketball work has paid off in terms of quickening his hands and feet. There’s still plenty of upside for a college coach to train him and round him into a college lineman. He has one thing you can’t teach, and that’s size.
Callines made the camp rounds this summer including visits to many ACC schools. He saw Virginia Tech when the Hokies visited Hampton University. Juwan visited Duke and UNC. With a 3.3 GPA and an SAT score over 1000, Callines is certainly qualified by NCAA standards. He also meets the admissions standards to a lot of more demanding colleges that might call on him.
Think of him as the cornerstone of the offensive line at Norcom. Juwan Callines certainly provides a big foundation to build on. Expect a big year for the big man.
