by Andy Hilton, recruit757
Ocean Lakes gets quite a boost with the return of the player we have ranked at #5 in our countdown. He played at Ocean Lakes as a freshman, played at Bishop Sullivan as a sophomore and junior, and now returns to Ocean Lakes as a senior, already committed to the University of Maryland.
Heading into the regular season, we recognize the top 30 senior prospects in the 757. We’ve scoured the region for talent for almost ten years now, keeping an eye on the best of the best, but also looking for opportunities to connect athlete and high school programs with college coaches. Coming in as the #5 senior prospect region-wide is Ocean Lakes cornerback Tayvion Land.
#5 Tayvion Land (2019 CB 5-9 180) – Ocean Lakes High School
Tayvion Land’s talent was evident early. He picked up scholarship offers as a freshman. He garnered more attention playing for Chris Scott for two seasons at Bishop Sullivan. Now he’s back in the fold at Ocean Lakes along with teammate Jake Low. Land and Low have been high school teammates since their freshman year and have been playing football together since before that.
Land has made his mark playing in 7-on-7 for both Mach 1 and the newly formed Hype Hunchos, both based out of Virginia Beach. He made an early commitment to Virginia Tech, but Chris Beatty won his heart and he’ll play his college ball for the Terps. He’s a difference maker, a shut down corner, and perhaps the boost that Ocean Lakes needs to get back to the State Championship game for the first time since 2014, when they won it all.
