William Peay looks to step up at Jamestown

In 2019, the Jamestown Eagles earned a few wins but fell short of the playoffs.
ODU head coach Bobby Wilder’s son Drew Wilder was the star attraction for the team, and he made his college commitment to the US Naval Academy as a part of their 2020 recruiting class.
Jamestown managed to earn three wins in 2019, including a 35-32 shocker over Tabb in the final week of the regular season. Drew Wilder is gone and head coach Mike Murphy has stepped aside. Former Warhill head coach Thad Wheeler will lead the Eagles, and that brings new hope to the football program.
William Peay (2022 OL 5-11 263) will be a part of Coach Wheeler’s first team at Jamestown.
The football work that William received at the recruit757 Spotlight Exposure camp could be just the kick start he needs in order to move into a leadership role at Jamestown.
“The workout was good. It was intense. I think I showed great determination in trying to finish everything and in pushing as hard as I can,” William commented. “Usually I do power workouts to try to improve my strength, to get bigger and stronger. These next few weeks, I’m going to try to get faster and more lean so I can move around fast on the football field.”
“(At Jamestown) we started off slow throughout the years, but we’re trying to pick it up, trying to get better. We’re building our program and getting more people out there. This season we’re going to be pretty good,” Peay said. “We’re going to grow as a team.”
There’s more development coming. Coach Wheeler built Warhill from an average program into a winner. The same is possible at Jamestown. William Peay buys into the improvement for his squad and for himself.
“I’m starting to get stronger and faster and I’m building my game more. I watch film on NFL athletes, trying to model my game after them. I’m trying to push (to get to) where I can be from where I was,” William explained.
