Heritage WR/DB Roderick Webb, Jr. grabs offer from Rockford

The Hurricanes endured a season that was quite pedestrian by their standards last year. Heritage finished the regular season with a record of 5-5, made it to postseason play, but was ousted by a Warhill program that has gotten the best of them three-consecutive times now. Over the off-season they’re planning on losing a few year pieces from last year’s program including Darius Price, Trevon Faison, Sheldon Hicks, and Keyon Mitchell among others. Returning for his final season in a Heritage uniform to help bolster the wide receiver and defensive back unit will be Roderick Webb, Jr (2020 WR/DB 5-10 165).
The rising senior picked up his first collegiate offer back in November of last year from Arkansas Baptist and has finally doubled down picking up his second from Rockford on Thursday morning.
“This offer came unexpectedly,” Webb told recruit757. “Coach (Calvin) Toliver has been around for a little minute now.”
Rockford is a small college in Rockford, Illinois that was founded in 1847. The Regents play Division III football in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference and is the only football program since 2000 to score 100 points in a game besting Trinity Bible 105-0 in 2003.
Last season, Webb picked up All-District first team honors as a punt and kick returner. He also picked up All-District second team honors as a wide receiver. The Heritage product stepped on the scene for the Hurricanes during the 2017 season pairing up with Tim Payne (William and Mary) to form one of the better Peninsula District wide receiver duos. Webb stepped into an isolated role in 2018 and now he’s expected to step into an even more elevated role at wide receiver as well as defensive back this upcoming season. Despite a slow start to his recruitment, Webb is planning on keeping his eyes forward and have patience throughout the process.
“It’s kind of going slow,” Webb stated. “But I’m staying humble, working steadily, and waiting my turn.”
Heritage will start its season on August 30 with a match up on the road against none other than Warhill. The Hurricanes started their 2018 season with a loss to Warhill and their season was finished with a playoff loss to Warhill at Wanner Stadium in Williamsburg. You can bet that Heritage will look to even the score as Warhill welcomes a new head coach this fall.
