It seems as though Michigan is embracing the young prospects of the 757.
On Tuesday, Assistant Coach Al Washington and the University of Michigan Wolverines offered Booker T. Washington running back Rodney Hammond (2021 RB 5-9 175), Norfolk Christian running back Lamareon James (2020 RB 5-10 170) and Princess Anne defensive back/wide receiver Tony Grimes (2021 DB/WR 6-1 190).
That’s a huge statement for Michigan recruiting.
“Coach Washington said that they love how physical Tony is at the line of scrimmage. They think he would fit in well with their system and the way their DBs play,” said Princess Anne High School Head Football Coach Jelani Fair of the Wolverines offer for Tony Grimes.
It’s the tenth college scholarship offer for Grimes, following a Buffalo offer last week and a University of South Carolina offer the week before that. In addition to Michigan, Buffalo and South Carolina, Grimes holds offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Tennessee, Rutgers, Texas A&M and Duke.
Norfolk Christian running back Lamareon James added his third offer when Michigan offered.
“They’re recruiting me as an athlete, and I know they love athletes,” James stated. “I love their style of play and their offense. They also have a great coaching staff and I like their uniforms and swagger.”
Booker T. Washington running back Rodney Hammond echoed those sentiments. Hammond is a year behind James, but again, the common thread is that the Wolverines are sowing seeds with young prospects in the region.
“It’s a good school. They think I’ll be a good fit for what they do on offense,” said Hammond. For him, it’s the third college scholarship offer after receiving an offer earlier this year from Duke and an offer earlier this week from UNC.
