It’s sometimes difficult to play in the shadow of a big name player. Maury wide receiver KeAndre Lambert has been recognized as one of the top receiver prospects in the nation. Tyshaun Granger has been a top target alongside Lambert. He has a lot of the same athleticism. The duo makes a formidable weapon in the passing game for Maury. When defenses want to double and triple-team Lambert, Granger can make the big plays and wreak havoc on opposing defenses.
Heading into the regular season, we recognize the top 30 senior prospects in and around the region of Hampton Roads. Continuing our countdown at number 27 is senior Maury starting wide out Tyshaun Granger.

Granger hasn’t made his college commitment yet, but he’s holding offers from Hampton, Norfolk State, Howard, William and Mary, Towson, and Delaware State.
Back in May, Granger expressed his excitement over his upcoming senior season at Maury. He’s looking forward to the Commodore team hitting the field for the 2019 season, which kicks off on Saturday, August 31 with the recruit757 Kickoff Classic at Darling Stadium in Hampton. The Commodores square off against Bethel in the first game of a doubleheader.
“We’ve gotten better at competing against each other and (we’re) going hard every single practice,” said Granger. “We can go as far as we went last year, maybe further, probably win states. Most likely, we will win states.”
Last season, Maury hung tough with a Highland Springs team that was on the hunt for an undefeated season and their fourth state championship win in a row. Highland Springs dominated the second half and went on to win the VHSL Class 5 State Championship in 2018. That gives Maury some motivation.
Granger and the Commodores have been keen to keep it quiet on social media. There’s a swagger to these Commodores, but the squad plans to let their game do all the talking this fall.
