Highland Springs starting defensive lineman Kevin Gilliam continues to watch his stock rise. Earlier today he was able to celebrate with Jamareeh Jones (2021 ATH 6-0 190) and Malcolm Greene (2020 DB 5-10 180) as they secured an offer from Notre Dame. For Jones, it was the first of its kind while Greene is pushing towards 30 collegiate offers.
However, on Tuesday, Gilliam (2021 DL 6-3 230) was able to do a little bit of celebrating on his own. The Springers product was able to notch another offer seventh of the month this time coming from the University of North Carolina.
“Coach Jay Bateman came to the showcase this week and was putting the finishing touches on watching the way I move,” Gilliam explained. “He was very impressed with my film and my talents. He was supposed to call and offer on Monday night, but instead he called the next night.”
The four-star product has put in a large amount of work during the offseason to include visits that has taken him to the University of Virginia, Michigan State, Ohio State, North Carolina, and North Carolina State among others. In total, Gilliam has amassed 12 collegiate offers including: Virginia, NC State, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Rutgers, Michigan, Toldeo, Georgia Tech, Michigan State, and Wingate.
At the same time, Gilliam still feels there’s more work to be done. With his College Day workout completed, Gilliam will now focus a little more of his efforts towards the road. Only Florida and Georgia remain on the schedule for the Highland Springs product. However, things can change rapidly and schedules can easily be manipulated. He currently holds a 4.2 grade point average and has the academic side of the house well tamed. The summer for Gilliam awaits.
