A trip to Charlottesville and an impressive camp performance helped George Pettaway land his first college scholarship offer.
Over the weekend, the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy running back went to UVA with lineman teammate Griffin Duggan (2021 OT 6-5 260). Griffin already holds a scholarship offer from the Cavaliers and now Pettaway (2021 RB 5-10 175) joins him as a UVA target.
NSA head football coach Mike Biehl shared the news with recruit757.
“George really showed what he’s capable of. He ran multiple 4.4s (forty-yard-dash) and got into the one-on-ones and was really dynamic,” Biehl said. “He’s a dynamic running back that draws a lot of comparisons to past great running backs in the 757 but is probably most like ‘Smoke’ Mizelle with how violently he can cut and get vertical, as well as how fast he can get to top speed. He will be looking to help us improve on the best regular season mark (7-3) we’ve had since I have been here.”
Pettaway has been traveling a lot since the school year ended. In addition to his trip to UVA, George visited Pitt on Sunday. According to his coach, George also plans to camp for Wake, Virginia Tech and Old Dominion.
