Woodside starting quarterback Kahleef Jimmison (2020 DB 5-10 170) came over from HRA two seasons ago and immediately made an impact for the Wolverines.
At the start of last season, the coaching staff made the decision to place Jimmison at quarterback switching talented sprinter Tyler Thompson to running back. The move paid dividends as Woodside went on to field an offense that averaged 28 points per game. However, it was at Todd Stadium that the Wolverines would do most of their damage averaging 32 points per contest.
The play of Jimmison allowed him to jump on the radar of a sizeable number of collegiate programs. The United States Military Academy jumped into the mix near the end of January pulling the trigger on Jimmison just a week before National Signing Day. On Saturday evening, the Woodside product put a cap on his recruitment and his high school career by committing to West Point.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to better my family and open doors to places I never thought I could even imagine,” Jimmison told recruit757. “It’s a real family there and a brotherhood for life.”
Jimmison secured numerous accolades this past season including Peninsula District first-team attention at kick returner and second-team attention at quarterback as well as punt returner. He also picked up All Region 5A second-team honors at the quarterback position. However, it was his play at defensive back that truly caught the eye of the USMA.
The Woodside product has been recruited to play defensive back which is another one of his strong suits. Jimmison saw action in all 12 games this past season and allowed just a single reception to go along with at least five interceptions when targeted against.
Aside from West Point, Jimmison also received interest from: Bryant, Howard, and VMI.
Jimmison marks the fourth Wolverine to announce his commitment in the first five weeks of this year alone. Tyreece White (Davidson), Andrew Chamblee (James Madison), Seth Naotala (James
Madison), and Ricky Key, Jr. (Virginia Union) have all come to a decision on where they plan to sign.
However, no one has yet to sign as of date. Per head coach Danny Dodson, “We have a couple of guys that need to solidify some things. We are going to wait until we can do them all at one time.”
