York High School football coach Doug Pereira shared the news late Monday.
Jayden Flood-Brown and Luke Gatz confirmed their college commitments on Monday, just a week after Falcon lineman Brandon Tolbert committed to Division III Shenandoah.
Pleased to announce that Jayden Flood-Brown will be taking his talents to Louisburg College in the Fall. Jayden, you’ve come a long way, man, and I’m extremely proud of you!!!!! Louisburg is getting quite a talent with this one. Congrats and best wishes!!!!! pic.twitter.com/2rhJzV6wxu

Gatz was a multi-purpose athlete for the Falcons in his senior season, contributing as a quarterback, running back and linebacker. Luke was the Buffalo Wild Wings Player of the Week for his performance in a mid-season win over district rival Lafayette. He played on both sides of the ball, made key tackles, passed for three touchdowns, rushed for one touchdown and a two-point conversion. It was the first time York had beaten Lafayette since 2011 and it was the first district loss for Lafayette since 2012.
Gatz will accompany Brandon Tolbert in his commitment to Shenandoah.
I am happy to announce I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Shenandoah University. I want to thank @CoachMitch_4 for everything he’s done and can’t wait to see what’s in store. pic.twitter.com/CdK4zGFBgK

Later in the season, Jayden-Brown was also a Buffalo Wild Wings Player of the Week award winner. Jayden had 18 carries for 156 yards and two touchdowns in his team’s 35-28 win over Warhill. That win kept York undefeated on the season and all but guarantees that York will have a 10-0 season since they face 0-9 Bruton in their final game of the regular season.
As mentioned in Coach Pereira’s tweet above, Jayden-Brown has committed to Louisburg.
Both athletes played in the 757 All-Star Classic at Christopher Newport University that was played a week after the state championship games. The showcase almost certainly gave Flood-Brown a boost, since Louisburg College head coach Chris Tolbert was in attendance.
York had a stellar season in 2019, where they ran the table in the regular season. The Falcons suffered their only loss in the second round of the playoffs, where Phoebus outgunned them in a 41-18 final. The Falcons finished the season 11-1 and won their first Bay Rivers District title since 2012 when they shared the title with Lafayette.
