In the 2019 season, York High School achieved a perfect regular season and a playoff run that stopped in the Region 3A semifinal. Lineman Brandon Tolbert played a big role, and he snagged an All-Region 3A honorable mention along with a spot on the Peninsula team in the All-757 Classic last December.
Now, Tolbert (2020 OG 6-0 280) has made his college commitment and York High School head coach Doug Pereira shared the news with recruit757.
“Brandon Tolbert has offficially announced he will be attending and playing football at Shenandoah University this fall,” said the coach on Wednesday afternoon.
Coach Pereira is one of Tolbert’s biggest fans, and it showed in the comments that the coach offered up.
“Brandon has been incredibly important to the success of our team over these past four years. He has been a solid leader, well respected by his teammates, peers, and coaches. He will certainly be missed by the Falcon Family,” Pereira stated.
York may have a hard time replacing a cornerstone lineman like Tolbert, but there’s a lot that he brings into the Shenandoah football program.
“He’s a fundamentally sound and experienced player as an offensive lineman. He’s extremely coachable. Brandon is a team-first guy and a natural leader,” Coach Pereira explained.
Shenandoah finished the 2019 season with a 6-4 win-loss record, and they’ll see two offensive linemen depart as graduating seniors this spring. The Hornets compete in the ODAC (Old Dominion Athletic Conference) against familiar foes like Bridgewater, Ferrum, Hampden-Sydney and Randolph-Macon.
Coach Pereira mentioned that he’ll have more Falcon seniors making their college commitments in the coming weeks.
