Two of the 804’s shiftiest and dynamic play makers participated in the 2019 Blue Grey All-American Game on Saturday, January 5th, 2019 at Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Clover Hill’s Christopher Houston Jr. and Hopewell’s Sean Wood-Allen helped lead the North squad to a 20-12 victory over the South. “It was an honor to be able to represent the 804 and put on for my city. Just being able to play in an All-American game will always be something I remember,” stated Wood-Allen.
Both individuals saw significant playing time in the event. Houston had a 10-yard touchdown run, returned a punt for 16-yards, and recorded a tackle on the kickoff team. When asked about his performance in the game, Houston stated, “It felt like a dream playing in the Raymond James stadium. Scoring a touchdown and being able to represent my family, friends and school was amazing.”
Wood-Allen did not have any recorded statistics, but he was the starting outside receiver for the North and played the entire game. “Although I didn’t get a chance to get the ball during the game, I made sure I blocked for our running backs and ran defenders off. Just being here allowed me to improve my game, especially during practice. I learned new things to perfect my craft and make me a better receiver,” explained Wood-Allen.
With the All-American game out of the way, both Houston and Wood-Allen are focused on finding a place to call home for the next four years. Houston currently holds offers from UVA-Wise, West Virginia State University, and Virginia State. In addition, he has been in talks with a few Division-I FCS and Division-II programs. As for Wood-Allen, he currently holds an offer from UVA-Wise and has been in constant contact with Norfolk State University.
