Ethan West Has Arrived: Cosby LB to head south after committing to North Carolina

Everyone loves a great Krispy Kreme donut. Personally, I’d rather travel over to Dunkin Donuts where there’s more of a variety of options and the only rival to their iced coffee would be that of Starbucks. However, when driving by a Krispy Kreme shop and the red light reading “hot” is gleaming through the window, it’s hard to dismiss the simplicity of a glazed donut.
In 1903, the Wright brothers engineered a successful flight after completing construction on their glider just a year prior. It was the first time that a powered aircraft was able to successfully take flight. This would happen over the spring and throughout the summer during 1903 to which the Wright brothers were able to partake in not just one, but four successful flights.
Roc Nation multi-platinum recording artist J. Cole was born in Frankfurt, West Germany in 1985. After re-locating to New York, Cole stood outside of Jay-Z’s Roc the Mic studio in excess of three hours waiting to get the attention of the “On the Run” artist only to be dismissed. His persistence led to a deal being struck between Cole and Jay-Z which has led to Cole releasing five albums under Roc Nation which have all gone RIAA certified Platinum.
What does Krispy Kreme, the Wright brothers and J. Cole all have in common? The height of their existence was realized in the state of North Carolina.
Looking to add to the storied history of the state of North Carolina will be Cosby starting linebacker Ethan West (2020 LB 6-4 220). The Cosby product anchored a Titans program that attempted to turn its season around after finishing 1-9 in 2017 missing the playoffs for the first time since 2012. Last season the Titans finished with a record of 4-7 and were just one possession away from knocking off the shorthanded Thomas Dale Knights and advancing to the Class 6 Region Semi-finals. On Saturday afternoon, West made the decision to commit to the University of North Carolina.
“My deciding factor was being able to sit down with Coach (Mack) Brown and seeing where the program is headed,” West told recruit804. “I wanted to be a part of it. Something special is happening I wanted to hop on board early.”

West only played eight games last season for the Titans, but his catalog was strong enough for the Tar Heels to take notice well before the beginning of the season. North Carolina got the memo after Syracuse, Michigan, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Temple, Maryland, Rutgers, LSU, Duke and Virginia all extended offers. The Tar Heels plan to use West in their 3-4 scheme as the Will linebacker while he’s already thinking about what he wants to accomplish in his first year.
“I’m hoping to make it to an ACC championship game,” West stated. “My personal goals are to play early and hopefully be a part of an All-ACC team. I’m really excited to compete and bring UNC back to a dominant state like they had in the 1990’s.”
