Deep Run secured its first perfect regular season since 2006 by shutting out Thomas Jefferson 33-0 Friday night. The Wildcats locked up the #3 seed in Division 5 Region B and will host #7 seed Prince George next Friday in the first round of the playoffs.
Thomas Jefferson will still be the #1 seed in Division 2 Region A and will host #8 Brunswick. The Vikings have a great opportunity to make a deep run in the postseason. TeeJay has made the playoffs for the third year in a row after a long post-season drought.
On the first drive of the game, Deep Run quarterback Bo Kite was intercepted by Jaylen Jones. TJ put together a solid drive off the turnover but the drive would stall and they failed to connect on a 39-yard field goal attempt.
Kite would make up for his interception on the ensuing drive, punching in his first rushing touchdown of the evening from one-yard out. He would call his own number again on the two-point conversion and Deep Run led 8-0 early in the second quarter. Wildcat kicker Carter Foy connected on a 22-yard field goal attempt with 4:14 remaining in the half to extend the lead to 11.
Deep Run forced a turnover on the opening drive of the second half, and a few plays later Kite found the endzone (PAT- FOY) and the Wildcats cruised the remainder of the game. Alva Rose rushed for 170 yards on 21 carries, and scored on an 11-yard touchdown run early in the fourth (2Pt conv Kite).
