Fresh off of helping the Springers capture their fourth consecutive state title, senior defensive end Keeron Henderson picked up his latest offer from Coach Tez and the Johnson C. Smith University Golden Bulls. The Golden Bulls participate in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and are members of the NCAA Division II classification.
In addition to his offer from Johnson C. Smith, Henderson has secured offers from St. Andrews University (NAIA), and fellow CIAA members Chowan University (Coach Von Bargen and Coach Fitzgerald), and Virginia State (Coach Carney).
When asked how he felt about all of the attention he has started to receive from college coaches, Henderson replied, “It feels amazing to receive this type of attention. I’ve spent a lot of late nights and early mornings grinding for everything I have received. I knew days like this would come if I just kept working towards it! There is still work to be done but I’m slowly progressing to my full potential.”
Henderson reports that he will is being recruited as a defensive end/hybrid linebacker.
When asked what he is looking for in a program, Henderson stated, “I’m looking for a program that is focused on academics as much as they are focused on football just like the program here at Highland Springs. I want to go somewhere that’s going to make me a better individual.”
Henderson capped off his senior season with 61 tackles, 11 for a loss, three sacks, and one forced fumble and recovery. He was also named First Team All-Region 5B this season.
