Virginia’s Gatorade Player of the Year announced via Twitter Friday evening that he has trimmed his list of potential suitors from 32 to 15. “First I would like to thank all of the schools that have given me an opportunity to be a part of their program so far. I’ve enjoyed the process a lot and I really appreciate all of the coaches and great people I’ve met and created relationships with. However, I won’t be cutting any schools off and my recruitment is still 100% open. But these are the following schools that I feel are the best fit for me at the time!!”
Virginia, Penn State, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, LSU, South Carolina, Texas A &M, Ohio State, West Virginia, Alabama, Virginia Tech, and Michigan are the schools that made Henderson’s “short list.”
Henderson was instrumental in guiding Hopewell to it’s second state championship in three seasons, accumulating close to 3,200 all-purpose yards and 53 touchdowns. On defense, he recorded 48 total tackles, 41 of which were solo stops, and notched three interceptions.
In addition to being named the states Gatorade Player of the Year, Trey was named to The USA Today All-USA 2nd Team Offensive unit as an athlete and was our publications Offensive Player of the Year. The Division 3 All-State teams have not been officially announced, but one would assume he will take home that top honor as well.
