Louisa County running back Robert Morgan IV (2021 RB 5-10 195) picked up his first Division I offer last week from Campbell University. Campbell University competes in the Big South Conference and posted a 6-5 overall record in 2019.
When asked about his first Division I offer, Morgan stated, “I’m blessed and very grateful that my parents don’t have to worry and stress anymore about paying for college.” He continued,
“Coach Steve Williams is my recruiting coach at Campbell. He and the other coaches loved my film and believe I would be a good fit at running back in their program.”
As a junior, Morgan earned Second-Team All-Region 4B honors. He rushed for 601 yards on 66 carries (9.1 ypc) and scored 13 touchdowns. As a team, the Lions racked up over 4,500 yards of total offense and averaged 42 points per game.
With the departures of key offensive contributors Noah Robinson (ODU), Jarett Hunter (Howard), Alex Washington (William and Mary) and Xavier Hunter (Newport News Apprentice), Morgan is expected to be the featured back this fall alongside Kalup Shelton (2021 RB 5-8 185).
“This off-season I have been working on getting bigger, stronger, and faster. Last season I weighed 185. Now I’m up to 200 pounds and benching close to 315,” he explained.
Morgan is currently drawing additional Division I interest from Navy, Liberty, and VMI.
