Chris Tyree’s time in the spotlight as a high school athlete is coming to a close.
Tyree can claim a lot of accomplishments, including a Nike Opening Fastest Man win, a slew of college scholarship offers, and the attention of practically every college recruiting tout across the nation.
There’s one thing left for him to achieve, and it has more to do with team and less to do with himself.
The Thomas Dale Knights have competed at a high level for years, but it’s been years since they reached the state championship game. Thomas Dale won a state championship in 2009, and they’ve gone at least 12 games deep into each season for the last five years.
In 2018, the Knights were bit by the injury bug. 2019 is shaping up to be a prime season for Tyree to close out his high school career.
“I’m excited. It’s going to be a big year for sure, especially since almost everyone is coming back. We only lost like two starters. Being able to play with my brothers for just one more year, coming up, before I go to college… it’s going to be a good year,” Tyree said.
Just a few days ago, Byron Jones covered Tyree’s announcement that he is narrowing his offer list to Oklahoma, Notre Dame and Alabama.
