If there was a guy right now I didn’t want to meet in a dark alley that guy would be Hopewell product Kaiveon Cox. Pick your poison wisely with this guy because he can truly do no harm.
Whether it’s lining up on the defensive side of the ball or spelling starting running back Robert Briggs out of the backfield, Cox has expeditiously turned into one of the great two-way players in the Central Region heading into the regular season.
Heading into the regular season, we recognize the top 30 senior prospects in and around the region of Central Virginia. Continuing our countdown at number 27 is none other than senior prospect Hopewell running back Kaiveon Cox.
#27 Kaiveon Cox (2020 RB 6-1 195) – Hopewell High School
Defense has been the calling card for the Blue Devils since Ricky Irby showed up on campus prior to the 2012 football season and last year was no different. Hopewell had its best defensive season under Coach Irby last year holding opponents to just 11 points per contest and posting five shutouts which is the most in one season since 1982. Starting linebacker Kaiveon Cox had a lot to do with the Blue Devils success last season.
The Hopewell product accumulated 61 tackles last season right behind Zyreon Jones-Walker, Anthony Hale, Reggie Ruffin, and a host of other defensive enforcers. Cox contributed on the offensive side of the ball also rushing for 532 yards on 66 carries with 10 touchdowns on the ground. Thus far, Cox has picked up collegiate offers from Virginia State and UVA-Wise as well as getting out to Old Dominion and a couple of other places this summer. Hopewell is yet again stacked on the both sides of the ball this season, but Kaiveon Cox will definitely be a prospect to keep your eye on moving forward.
