When it comes to pure athleticism, Dinwiddie prospect K’Vaughan Pope is among the best Richmond has to offer. Pope was a major driving force behind the Generals long run through the playoffs that season that allowed Dinwiddie to finish 14-1 on the season just shy of another Group 4A state championship. With another year under his belt and a commitment out of the way, this season has the potential to be one of the best seasons in school history for Pope and Dinwiddie.
Heading into the regular season, we recognize the top 30 senior prospects being groomed in and around the city of Richmond. Continuing our countdown as the 4th best senior prospect region-wide is Dinwiddie starting linebacker/wide receiver K’Vaughan Pope.

It didn’t take long for K’Vaughan Pope to make an impact when he arrived at Dinwiddie three years ago. Pope quickly latched onto a varsity spot and never looked back playing wide receiver his first time out. Linebacker came later on and over the years he’s quickly become one of the most complete linebackers to ever come out of the Richmond area. This wasn’t just realized by Coach Billy Mills and the Central District. At the conclusion of his commitment, Pope accumulated almost 30 offers which he consolidated to 10 in the middle of April.
Clemson, Florida State, Ohio State, Georgia and Florida were among some of the teams Pope placed on his top 10 list. On August 4, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes received a verbal commitment from Pope who had his mind made up after a visit in April. Last year was Pope’s best statistical season on record for Dinwiddie. On offense he accumulated 630 reception yards on 33 receptions and seven touchdown catches. On the defensive side of the ball Pope accumulated 135 total tackles, six interceptions, and five sacks.
The Dinwiddie prospect is the second player out of the state of Virginia to commit to Ohio State with Bishop Sullivan linebacker Teradja Mitchell committing a couple of months ago. Pope made an appearance at the Nike Opening in Charlotte, North Carolina back in May stamping a ticket to the Nike Opening Finals in Oregon. According to Rivals, Pope is the 4th rated prospect in the state of Virginia. On August 25, Pope will begin his final season in a Dinwiddie uniform as the Generals chase their first state championship since 2013 starting with a week one matchup with Denbigh.
