Highland Springs has done a lot of things right over the last three seasons which has led to them winning a 5B state title for three-consecutive years. However, it’s been their defense that has been miles ahead of most teams that reside in Region 5B. Last year, Hermitage and Highland Springs led all defenses in Region 5B allowing just 11 points per contest. Highland Springs was able to do that despite playing two more games than the Panthers holding their last two opponents to 18 and 27 points, respectively. Leading the charge for the Springers on defense last season was starting linebacker Christian White. The Springers product served as team captain last year and has aided in a Springers defense that has only allowed 12 points per contest over a three-year time span.
Heading into the regular season, we recognize the top 30 senior prospects in and around the city of Richmond. Continuing our countdown as the 18th best senior prospect region-wide is Highland Springs linebacker Christian White.
#18 Christian White (2019 LB 6-0 190) – Highland Springs High School
When you have a defense as talented as the Springers at you exposure, you need a guy who you can trust to manifest your vision by gelling it all on the football field. For the Highland Springs defense, Christian White has proved year-in and year-out that he can be the guy that’s always going to be at the right place at the right time. Last year was more than a breakout season for the Highland Springs product.
He was able to accumulate 132 tackles (12 for loss), four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one sack on the season. Not only was did White pick up All-State first team honors, he was also able to grab All-Region and All-804 first team honors alongside Mateo Jackson, K’Vaughan Pope, Brandon Smith and Wendell Davis. It’s hasn’t been an extremely hectic off-season for White heading into his senior season, but he has been out on a heavy 7-on-7 circuit run with the rest of the Springers.
In terms of recruiting, White has taken visits to William & Mary, Howard and James Madison among other programs. In early March, he took his SAT for the first time and was able to secure a 1000 score to go along with his 4.1 grade point average. His keenness on and off the field have caught the attention of Virginia State and Norfolk State University who both provided scholarship offers on June 16 and June 24. It’s not hard to see why White sits in the current position he’s in.
