Man on a Mission: Maryland brings Cosby ATH Ethan West offer total to five

It’s not unusual the amount of exposure that Cosby starting linebacker Ethan West is generating at this moment. However, outside of Chris Tyree (Thomas Dale) there aren’t many rising juniors making the kind of impact in their recruiting process in the Central Region than Ethan West. The Cosby product picked up more than enough headway when Rutgers tried to shift his attention and momentum in their direction on March 18. If that wasn’t enough, the Maryland Terrapins made their presence felt on Thursday morning providing West with his fifth collegiate offer.
“I took a visit up earlier this month and I kind of had a feeling that I was a priority for them,” West stated.
Starting in 2010, the Big Ten went through a realignment that lasted four years. During the second wave in 2012, Rutgers and Maryland were finally granted access. Since arriving to the Big Ten officially in 2014, Maryland has accrued a record of 20-30 with their best finish coming during their inaugural season with the Big Ten at 7-6.
West (SO/LB 6-4 215) still has two years left on the books at Cosby so it’s difficult to tell whether or not he’ll develop into a difference-making wide receiver or a powerhouse at linebacker. However, it would appear as though the Terrapins may have taken a liking for his playmaking abilities at linebacker. West has already traveled up to Maryland earlier this month, but now he has a solid reason to make his way back up to College Park.
“The campus was beautiful and the facilities are top notch. It was a very good visit and the coaching staff made me feel right at home,” West said.
Thus far, West also has offers from LSU, Rutgers, Duke, and Virginia. Despite already hitting the road and packing for multiple destinations, they’re still trips to LSU and Rutgers among others to be planned out. Clemson, Northwestern, and Wake Forest are all increasing their interest in acquiring the services of West.
