The Bulldogs dropped seven spots in the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll last week after suffering their first loss of the season last week against South Carolina. With match ups left against Missouri, Florida, Auburn, and a possible trip to the SEC championship game still in play; Georgia isn’t completely out of the picture yet.
As Georgia continues to strengthen its recruiting chances for the 2021 class, it’s decided to reach out to Hopewell in hopes to get starting running back Trey Henderson (2021 ATH 5-10 185) on board. On Wednesday afternoon, the Bulldogs extended an offer in the direction of the Hopewell product which now brings his list to 25 programs.

Georgia makes the seventh SEC program to offer Henderson coming behind Alabama, LSU, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Florida. Henderson also holds collegiate offers from: ECU, Michigan State, Rutgers, Ohio State, Clemson, Penn State, Syracuse, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Michigan, UVA, Old Dominion, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Duke, and Indiana.
Henderson has not only been one of the most dominant running backs in the region this season, he’s also been one of the most dominant prospects in the state. ESPN has the four-star product ranked as the second best overall prospect in the state of Virginia for the 2021 recruiting class as well as the 14th ranked athlete in the nation.
Through six games this season, Henderson has rushed for 871 yards on 69 carries with 20 touchdowns. He’s been one of the most consistent pieces within the Blue Devils offense for head coach Ricky Irby and his coaching staff. The Hopewell product is coming off of a contest against Petersburg where he rushed for 219 yards on 13 carries and four touchdowns. He was nearly matched by Kaiveon Cox who rushed 192 yards on eight carries and two touchdowns.
The Blue Devils are gearing up to host Dinwiddie on Friday evening and are looking to extend their winning streak to seven games. It would be the second time under the tenure of Coach Irby that the Blue Devils could have a winning streak of seven games or better in a single season (2015). However, the Generals have taken four of the last five match ups against Hopewell with the Blue Devils winning last year on the road by a single possession.
