Tulane extends offer to Matoaca DE/LB Immanuel Hickman

We witnessed many top notch athletes take advantage of the early signing period in December of 2018. However, they’re still a great deal of prospects that are yet to sign their name on a National Letter of Intent. One of those prospects is Matoaca starting defensive end Immanuel Hickman. The Warriors product has made a living on Friday nights and looks to transfer his talents to the collegiate level on Saturday afternoons starting in the fall. Doing so requires a commitment on his part and we’re getting to the point where that expectation has never been more apparent.
We received a commitment out of Hickman back in June of last year to the University of Cincinnati. However, the Matoaca enforcer had a change in heart last month and has constantly reinforced since then that “it’s getting real interesting.” Indeed it did get just a little more interesting for Hickman last week when he picked up his first offer since de-commiting from Cincinnati.
On January 7, Hickman announced the arrival of an offer from Tulane which adds to the depth of his offer list. The Green Wave haven’t been predominately known for football as they’ve yielded a 22-39 record over the last five seasons. However, since the arrival of head coach Willie Fritz they’ve improved their record each year over the past three seasons including winning their first bowl game (AutoNation Cure Bowl) since 2002 (Conagra Foods Hawaii Bowl).
Hickman has proved he can be flexible at both the linebacker and defensive end positions so if he signs on with Tulane it’ll all be a matter of fit. Four of Tulane’s six linebackers will be sophomores heading into the 2019 football season while six of their 12 defensive ends will also be sophomores at the start of the new season.
However, it could be an uphill battle for the Green Wave who will have to contend against the likes of Delaware, Kent State, Marshall, James Madison, Buffalo, Richmond, Temple, Charlotte, Navy, Campbell, Coastal Carolina, Fordham, Liberty, Air Force, Towson, Elon, Norfolk State, Central Florida and East Carolina.
“I am still uncommitted. My final decision will be made February 6,” Hickman stated via Twitter.
