Spearman Finds New College Destination

Grafton athlete Marcus Spearman had to make the best of a bad situation. Academically and Athletically, Marcus has a lot to offer any school. Spearman worked hard to gain the interest of colleges as diverse as James Madison, Wake Forest, Duke, Georgia Tech and Stanford. After a long recruitment including weekend after weekend of Summer One-Day Camps, Marcus committed to Harvard in the fall.

That wasn’t the end of the story.

Two Down, Two To Go For McGill

Since Maryland pulled Demetri McGill’s scholarship earlier this month, the Ocean Lakes lineman has had no lack of suitors. Schools like Connecticut, Wake Forest, and James Madison quickly jumped back into the mix. McGill has narrowed his target list down to four, and he’s taken two visits already. He has two more visits to make before signing day. Then, he’ll make his decision. ($$)

Smallwood Shines As Freshman At VSU

Jaivon Smallwood had a strong senior season at Bayside. He played alongside Demetrious Nicholson and Anthony Cooper in his junior season, and then shared catches with Cooper in his senior season as quarterback Deion Stitt set a Bayside record for passing yardage. Smallwood took that productivity to the college level when he committed to Virginia State as part of the Class of 2012.
